Waste on christmas time
December just started and we begin to feel Christmas coming. We start to think about presents and gifts to our loved ones. At this time we produce about 25%-30% more waste than we usually would. Packing paper (365 000 miles only in United Kingdom), gift bags and product packaging (414 000 tons in UK) are increasing amount of trash that we throw away. We are also wasting a lot more energy and food. All of it affects our planet and species on it in a very bad way. To prevent it we have to act more responsible and more smart. To save energy we should turn of Christmas tree lights and all electric ornaments for night. I think that for Christmas dinner we could do less than 12 meals or do them in smaller size to waste less food. For gift wrapping we could use biodegradable paper (brown paper) or recycle and reuse it. While buying presents we should chose products with plastic-free packaging.
