Leather

Products made of leather were popularised in1940s and 1950s by Hollywood stars and were worn ever since. But in the new century, some controversies showed. People started to wonder if wearing leather is morally wrong. Turnes out that most leather comes from India and China where cows are awfully treated. Cows' tails are broken and eyes are rubbed in tabacco and chili to get them to move. Those poor animals have to travel many kilometers before they get to the slaughter. It is torture for them. And every year over a billion animals are killed for their skin. And it is not only cows who suffer. Production of leather also affects the health of the workers (they have contact with many chemicals). To minimalize it, we should stop buying leather or replace it with artificial leather. Many companies produce it from natural substances (I even heard about a company that makes pineapple leather). We should also protest and spread knowledge about producing this material. It is very import...

Palm oil

Palm oil is an ingredient of many products that we use every day. It is used in junk food, cosmetics, and sweets. About 50%in supermarkets contain it. In some countries, it also can be used as fuel and added to animal feed. But why is it bad? The problem is with its sourcing. To get it people cut down the forest. And it has consequences. People take home from species like orangutans, elephants, and rhinos. It also causes throwing more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. So to save species we should start living without it. While buying products we should check what they are made of and avoid ones with palm oil or vegetable oil, which is just another name for this ingredient. We can easily replace products with the ones without it. But if there is no replacement for some snacks we can start doing them at home. This way we control what is inside them. We also educate other people to gain their help in our actions. This can help save many animals lifes. https://www.wwf.org.uk/u...

Ocean pollution

Ocean pollution is all the trash that is in the ocean water. This garbage moves witch sea currents and creates big garbage islands. People pollute it mainly with cigarettes, plastic bags, food wrappers, and bottles. Cleaning that things are hard. The reason why is that there are micro pieces of plastic that are almost impossible to clean. It affects all of the animals that live in the ocean. They eat bigger pieces of trash because they think that it is their nourishment. For example, sea turtles eat plastic bags because they look like jellyfishes. So to help our oceans we definitely should recycle our garbage. We can also reduce our use of plastic (replacing it with reusable products).  While shopping we also should avoid products with microbeads (micro pieces of plastic) like some face scrubs, toothpaste, or body washes. A good thing to do is supporting organizations that clean marine pollution ( for example ). We should also clean beaches while we are on the summer holiday ...
