Recycling

Every one of us produces garbage. We throw things away and do not even think about what will happen to them. Obviously, it is not good for our planet and life on it.

When we litter we do not usually think how long does it take to decompose for example a plastic bottle or a newspaper.  A bottle decomposes about 450 years, for a glass one is one million years, a tin can needs 50 years, and newspaper-6 weeks. Organic things, like fruit peels, decompose 2 to 5 weeks. The non-organic things that I mentioned can lay on beaches, in woods, or anywhere else for years and years. To stop that we should immediately start to recycle.

Recycling means that we can use materials from products that are already used and make something new from it. Even But recycling does not only mean to trow glass to the green bin, plastic to the yellow one and paper to the blue one. We should also buy rechargeable batteries, print paper on both sides, and buy things that are already recycled or can be recycled. We could buy better quality things so the will last longer too.

Many people still don't take recycling and garbage segregation seriously. We should also educate people like this to stop littering our planet and help to make it cleaner.

  1. I'm afraid educating people is not enough. We need laws that will force companies to change the way products are packaged (reusable glass bottles, no individual packaging for cosmetics or food, etc) and give up producing cheap low quality disposable things (one-season clothes, shoes) and devices that cannot be repaired if they break down (you can't replace the broken part, you have to replace the whole device).
